1950 Major League Baseball All-Star Game : ウィキペディア英語版 | 1950 Major League Baseball All-Star Game
The 1950 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 17th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 11, 1950, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois the home of the Chicago White Sox of the American League. The game resulted in the National League defeating the American League 4–3 in 14 innings. It was the first All-Star game to go into extra innings. Robin Roberts and Vic Raschi were the starting pitchers for the NL and AL, respectively. The game was fairly uneventful until the ninth inning, when Ralph Kiner hit a home run off AL reliever Art Houtteman to tie the score at 3-all. Strong pitching dominated, with the NL's Larry Jansen working five innings of one-hit scoreless baseball, striking out six. In the top of the 14th, Ted Gray gave up a solo home run to the NL's Red Schoendienst. With a man on and one out in the bottom of the 14th, Joe DiMaggio came to bat for the AL. But with the crowd on its feet, DiMaggio, batting against Ewell Blackwell, grounded into a game-ending 5-4-3 double play. ==External links==
